Mwangaza stands for illumination. Mwangaza Family brings light, hope and inspiration for positive change though art. We are playful rebels that turn the spotlight on what is hidden in order to address injustice or malpractice and raise awareness. Art is a powerful and fun tool for transformation.

Mwangaza is based on the beautiful island of Zanzibar in Tanzania. We combine different disciplines, cultures and styles. creating an innovative fusion of traditional and contemporary art forms that aims to make the world a better place. Our heritages are our roots, from which we grow like trees into a brighter future.

We co-create, collaborate, offer training, provide opportunities and promote professional arts in Tanzania. Mwangaza organises national and international collaboration between artists, organisations, researchers and other stake holders.
